CORPORATE HISTORY

Founded in 1819 in Nagoya, Japan, Toho began distribution of imported dry goods into Japan. In the first 100 years of business success, the company expanded operations and continued to meet the growing need for newer products and innovative solutions. In Post-War Japan, Toho soon emerged as a distributor and manufacturer of industrial electronics and new technologies with a foundational relationship with Hitachi and other local electronics manufacturers.

Toho started its inspection and possessing business in the 1980’s and shortly thereafter, broadened its product portfolio to include wafer cleaning and inspection equipment. Toho’s processing and inspection business was further enhanced in 1999 with the addition of the acquisition of KLA-Tencor’s worldwide FP-20 Profiler business.

Toho Technology U.S.A. began operations in 2001 and in the same year added Candela Instruments’ Optical Surface Analyzer to it’s product line up in Asia. Toho continued to broaden its product line with the recent purchase of KLA’s FLX-2320 Stress Measurement System business around the globe. Toho Technology has revenues of approximately $270 million and over 650 employees worldwide. Toho Technology is headquartered in Nagoya, Japan with sales and support facilities around the world.
